About This Course

This course teaches Executive Directors and key staff of small to mid‑sized nonprofits how to design and conduct a focused needs assessment that supports strategic and fundraising decisions. Participants learn clear frameworks for defining the purpose and scope of an assessment, selecting appropriate data collection methods, and organizing findings using a SWOT analysis that distinguishes internal strengths and weaknesses from external opportunities and threats. Through interactive instruction and practical examples, the course shows how to synthesize information from documents, stakeholder input, and basic data into a prioritized list of needs and high‑level recommendations. By the end, participants will understand how to lead a structured needs assessment process and produce a concise summary.

Workforce Training Fund Program Application Requirements:

  • You need an Employer Identification Number (EIN).
  • A Certificate of Good Standing (DOR) that is less than six months old.
  • A Certificate of Compliance (DUA) that is less than one month old.
  • A signed IRS Form W-9 with a signature less than a year old at the time of the application.
  • Applying at least 21 days in advance of the course start date is recommended.
